Accra, Sept. 29, GNA – The Ga Mantse, Nii Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, says entrepreneurial initiatives must align with green innovation and circular economic opportunities to protect Ghana’s environment.

He said the green innovation and circular economies presented enormous opportunities that must be harnessed and seized by Ghanaian entrepreneurs to create jobs for the teeming unemployed youth for economic development.

The Ga Mantse was speaking at the 4th Ghana Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GNCCI) Awards which was held in Accra.

This year’s edition of the Awards was on the theme: “Adaptability and Innovation in a Green Economy through collaboration” highlighted the global shift towards greener, more sustainable business practices.

The  event organised by the GNCCI was attended by the business owners and representatives of companies as they received their awards in various categories.

At the end of the awards, Mr. Micheal Bozumbill, Chief Executive Officer for PETROSOL Ghana, was adjudged the Business Man of the Year.

He advised Ghanaian entrepreneurs to embrace sustainable practices, integrate Indigenous
technology and develop solutions that not only prioritize profitability but also protect the environment for future generations.

He urged businesses to collaborate with the relevant stakeholders to achieve green innovation, emphasising that collaboration between businesses and state agencies was key in unlocking Ghana’s green economic potential.

The Ga Mantse also pointed out the impact of illegal mining popularly known as “galamzey” noting that Ghana could be on the brink of water crises and long drought if the situation was not addressed.

Dr. Clement Osei Amoako, President of GNCCI, said businesses were at the crossroads facing rapid changes and environmental challenges thus a green economy was no longer a distant goal but an urgent imperative.

He urged the businesses to view challenges presented by the green economy as opportunities to innovate and adapt and drive the green transformation Ghana urgently needs.

The President said collaboration was key in unlocking Ghana’s green economy potential adding that no single entity can harness the complex opportunities and challenges presented by the green economy.

“Green economy growth demands a collective effort where businesses, governments, communities and individuals must unite to share knowledge, resources and expertise. It is only through such collaboration that we can fully unlock the potential of adaptability and innovation,” he said.

The President said business pursuit in the green economy space must transcend profits, adding that businesses had the responsibility to protect and preserve the environment for future generations.
