Sogakope (V/R), Sept. 25, GNA – Mrs Beatrice Asamani Savage, the Director of Editorial, at the Ghana News Agency has reminded the Agency’s reporters of their responsibility to produce quality stories that shape national discourse and policy.

“You have a responsibility to the progress of the society, family and the Global at large …What you do as a Ghana News Agency reporter is very spectacular and please don’t take your role in nation building for granted,” she added.

Mrs Savage gave the reminder as the Agency’s reporters undergo a four-day intensive training under the Post COVID-19 Skills Development and Productivity Enhancement Project.

The project to be carried out over the next five years, is a government of Ghana initiative with funding from the African Development Bank, as part of a broader objective towards a recovery from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Director of Editorial said management believed that training and retooling as component of improving efficiency and effectiveness of the personnel in the Agency and to strengthen and entrench the enviable news source credibility, accuracy and integrity established by the Agency over the past 60 years of its creation.

Mrs Savage added that, “old and retired staff have left an excellent footprint for GNA amidst the challenging moment and once it is your time to turn on the wheel, don’t look back”.

The reporters would be schooled in advocacy on health reporting, gender, and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and digital communication tools.
