Oliver Barker-Vormawor arrested over Democracy Hub protest

Accra, Sept. 24, GNA – Oliver Barker-Vormawor, a leader of Democracy Hub, has been arrested by the police for several unlawful activities that reportedly occurred on September 21 and 22, 2024, at the 37 Intersection in Accra.

This comes after 42 individuals were arrested on Sunday for various unlawful acts and will be presented in court.

A police statement reported that demonstrators illegally congregated at the 37 Intersection and attacked officers performing their jobs.

It indicated that the protesters entered a police vehicle to remove and discard the ignition key, pushed down crash barriers, obstructed traffic, caused property damage, and disturbed peace, among other things.

The three-day protest is to draw the Government’s attention to the devastating impact of illegal mining and the need for immediate intervention.
