Effia (WR), Sept. 21, GNA – Mr Clement Amankwa, Western Regional Malaria Focal Person says Malaria can attack anybody irrespective of the kind of house or home one lives in.
He said, “Malaria is everyone’s lot, despite leaving in a plush or mud House…what is important in the fight against Malaria is carefully adhering to all principles of proper disposal or covering of water, tightly closing doors and above sleeping under the treated Nets.”
Mr Amankwa was speaking to stakeholders on the move by the Ghana Health Service to distribute treated Nets at designated points within the 14 districts of the Western Region.
He said, “Malaria is everyone’s lots no matter the home you live in…we need consistency and proper use of the nets to eliminate Malaria by 2028”.
He said the service from September 20 to 24 would thus embark on house-to-house registration of households for the Nets.
However, actual distribution of the nets in communities would begin on November 7 to 11, 2024.
The Malaria focal person said there would be no institutional registration however, upon written request such institutions could have the Nets.
In the meantime, Out Patient Department cases of Malaria continued to witness growth, recording 213.5 in 2022 and 234.3 in 2023.
