Elmina (C/R), Sept. 18, GNA – The week-long 2024 Teens Camp by the Sekondi-Takoradi Cluster of Compassion International Ghana assisted projects, has ended at Elmina with a call on churches, parents and teachers, to help mold the character of children to know Christ.

This will enable them to contribute meaningfully to the socio-economic development of the nation.

The Camp, which was attended by more than 700 children from different churches in the Sekondi-Takoradi metropolis was on the theme: “Grooming Our Children to Become Fulfilled Christian Adults: Christ as the Watchtower”.

Madam Akosua Addai Amoo, a Lawyer and Communications Specialist, who was the special guest of honour, urged the church to prioritise the development of children.

She also appealed to children to make God the centre of their lives, advising them against allowing social media to distract their focus in life.

She encouraged the children to take advantage of the opportunity offered by the church and Compassion International Ghana, to secure their lives for the future.

Madam Amoo who is also the Public Relations Officer of Compassion International Ghana, said it was only through hardwork that they could excel in their education and life in general.

Mr Stephen Larbi Appiah, the Partnership Facilitator of the Sekondi-Takoradi Cluster of the Compassion-assisted projects who hosted the programme, urged the children to play a critical role in the upcoming general elections, by trumpeting peace to their parents and households.

He said as children, they were vulnerable in terms of any outbreak of war or conflict, which usually emerged from election violence.

Mr Appiah said Compassion International Ghana and the church, would continue to nurture children across the seven Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies in the Western Region where they operated, with opportunities, to facilitate the implementation of child and youth focused interventions.

This would help in achieving fulfilled Christian youth who could make informed decisions and become good leaders in all spheres of life for greater impact.

Reverend Tonia Aidoo, the Chairperson of the Teens Camp Committee, advised the children to leave the camp as ambassadors of Christ, to share the gospel with their friends at school and among their families.
