Copenhagen, Sept 1, (dpa/GNA) – The son of Norwegian Crown Princess Mette-Marit, has been detained again in Oslo, after violating a restraining order.
Marius Borg Høiby was first held on August 4 on charges of assault and property damage, and later admitted having been violent towards his girlfriend under the influence of alcohol and cocaine.
The 27-year-old was detained again on Saturday, after police said he repeatedly attempted to contact a woman against her will.
Høiby’s lawyer Øyvind Bratlien, told the NTB news agency that his client was accused of calling his ex-girlfriend from a blocked telephone number, but that he denied the allegations.
“In my 17 years as a criminal defence lawyer, I have never experienced an arrest based on such a thin factual basis,” he said.
NTB later reported that Høiby has been released.
Høiby is the son of Mette-Marit, the wife of Crown Prince Haakon, from a previous marriage.
He has withdrawn from public scrutiny surrounding his family in recent years, and asked the press to respect his private life.
However, he has also been accused of abuse in relationships with two other women, and of making threats against a fourth person.
