Accra, Sept. 11, GNA – Mr Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, leader and presidential aspirant of the Movement for Change, on Wednesday filed his nomination forms to contest the 2024 presidential election.

Accompanied by sympathisers of the Movement, Mr Kyerematen filed his nomination forms at about 1630 hours, becoming the 11th presidential aspirant to do so since Monday.

Mrs Jean Mensa, Chairperson, EC, received Mr Kyerematen’s nomination forms on behalf of the Commission.

Mr Kyerematen expressed gratitude to the citizenry for the “organic show of love” extended to him since he announced his decision to contest the December 7 polls.

He said Ghanaians were looking for a leader who would put the interest of the nation first and not political parties and assured that he would work to reconcile and unite the country if elected as President.

“It is clear that today is the day that most Ghanaians are waiting for Alan to file his nomination forms to become the first non-partisan President….I passionately appeal for your support,” he said.

The EC commenced the receipt of nomination forms at its Head Office in Accra on Monday, September 9, 2024, and the exercise is scheduled to end on Friday, September 13, 2024.

As of the close of Wednesday, eleven aspirants had filed their nomination forms. At least 32 presidential aspirants have picked nomination forms.

The aspirants who have filed their nomination forms so far are: Dr Mahamudu Bawumia (New Patriotic Party); Former President John Dramani Mahama (National Democratic Congress); Mr Percival Kofi Akpaloo (Liberal Party of Ghana); Nana Kwame Bediako (The New Force Movement), and Reverend Christian Kwabena Andrews (Ghana Union Movement).

The rest are: Mr Samuel Apea-Danquah (Independent Candidate); Mr George Twum-Barimah (Independent Candidate); Hassan Ayariga (All People’s Congress); Alhaji Mohammed Frimpong (National Democratic Party); Mr Kofi Koranteng (Independent Candidate), and Mr Alan Kyerematen (Movememt for Change).

Mrs Mensa said the EC had constituted two teams to scrutinise the documents of the presidential aspirants to ensure that they satisfied the key requirements.

She assured the team that the EC’s committee would “get to work immediately” and provide feedback to the presidential aspirant within the “shortest possible time.”

“We have no doubt that the teams will conduct themselves in a fair but firm process,” she said.
