Ruzhdi Ruzhdi wins gold medal in shot put at 2024 Paris Paralympics

Sofia, Aug 31 (BTA/GNA) – Ruzhdi Ruzhdi won the gold medal in the shot put (category F55) at the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris. The Bulgarian won first place also at Rio de Janeiro in 2016 and has a silver medal from Tokyo 2020.

The Bulgarian athlete scored a victory by a huge margin over the competitors. His best third attempt of 12.40 metres proved to be the most notable achievement, while no other athlete crossed the 12.00 metres mark.

The second place today went to Nebojsa Duric of Serbia with 11.98 metres, while the third and bronze medal was held by Lech Stoltman of Poland with 11.90 metres. Tokyo champion Wallace Santos (Brazil) was fifth this time with 11.68 metres.

Ruzhdi started with 12.36 metres and followed with a push of 11.96 metres. His fourth attempt turned out to be 12.34 metres, and he finally finished with 12.02 metres and 12.27 metres.

Bulgarian participation at the Paralympic Games in Paris continues tomorrow with two new athletes. Stella Eneva (F57) takes part in the discus throw and Hristiyan Stoyanov in the 1500 metres run.
