Accra, Aug. 24, GNA – The Ghana Chamber of Mines has congratulated Gold Fields Ghana for re-constructing and handing over a state-of-the-art stadium in Tarkwa.
The new stadium, with a seating capacity of over 10,000, is set to become a cornerstone of community activities, fostering sports development and providing a modern venue for various cultural and social events.
The recently inaugurated facility, which cost $16.2 million, would be the home grounds of Ghana Premier League side, Medeama SC.
A statement released by the Chamber of Mines said the re-construction of the stadium underscored Gold Fields Ghana’s unwavering commitment to sustainable community development of Tarkwa-Nsuaem, Prestea Huni-Valley and its environs.
Mr Sulemanu Koney, CEO of the Ghana Chamber of Mines, said, “Gold Fields Ghana has consistently demonstrated its dedication to improving the lives of the communities in which it operates.
“The reconstruction of this stadium is a clear manifestation of Gold Fields Ghana’s commitment to driving economic development and enhancing the social fabric of Tarkwa. We commend the management and staff of Gold Fields Ghana for this significant contribution, which will be a legacy for future generations.”
The Ghana Chamber of Mines, in the statement, further acknowledged the pivotal role that mining companies like Gold Fields Ghana continue to play in national development.
“As we celebrate this remarkable achievement, the Ghana Chamber of Mines commits to working closely with stakeholders in the mining industry to ensure that the benefits of mining are equitably shared among stakeholders, particularly the host communities,” the statement ended.
