ECG, Nungua District commend customers for collaboration on revenue mobilisation

By Laudia Sawer

Nungua, Aug. 22, GNA — The Nungua District under the Tema Region of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has commended customers for collaborating with the company during its revenue mobilisation exercise.

The ECG is currently undertaking a revenue mobilisation exercise across its operational areas as part of measures to get customers to pay their electricity bills.

The exercise, which commenced in the ECG Nungua district, is also to help automate work processes related to installation, replacements, maintenance works, and decommissioning of downstream assets, as well as capturing uncaptured meters and individuals connected to the national grid who were not receiving bills.

Mr. James Teye, the ECG Nungua District Manager, commending the customers, said the old experience of customers being hostile to ECG staff on such exercises was different this time around.

Mr Teye told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that “there have been previous reports where some customers had prevented ECG officials from accessing the meters. This time around, however, there has been a generally good and welcoming stance of our customers as we are on this revenue mobilisation agenda.”

He said as part of the activity, they were also checking on the integrity of meters to ensure they were working well.

He called on the customers and the public to continue supporting the ECG to enable them to work, adding that should there be issues of staff misconduct, customers should inform the company through its customer service centre or on social media for it to be addressed.
