Takoradi, Aug. 16, GNA – The Western Region is prepared for the more than 3000 NPP party faithful, floating voters and sympathisers, participating in the National Launch of the Party’s Manifesto in Takoradi on Sunday.

Already, major streets, billboards, trees, walls and any available space, have been draped with party colours, pictures of the candidates and other informative materials to draw attention of the public to the Sunday event, which would be held at the Ghana Secondary Technical School (GSTS).

Mr. Issah Fuseini, the Regional Communications Officer of the Party, told the Ghana News Agency in an interview that all strategic arrangements in terms of logistics and security have been procured to make the day a memorable event.

He said the Region was central in the scheme of national politics …. “You know, the Region is a swing one and research has shown that given attention to the region was critical to adding up to the fortunes of any political party.”

Meanwhile, the last time the NPP organised any major political event in the Region was the outdooring of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in 2008 as the Vice-Presidential candidate at Sekondi College.

Mr. Fuseini said the party was driving its machineries here to make sure that it gained a convincing win in the Region come December 7.

He urged the party faithful to put aside any differences, canvass massive support which would translate into votes for the party.

The Regional Communications Officer was grateful to the party for its recognition to the region.

The former Regional Organiser of the NPP party, Mr. Abdul Ganiyu lauded the party hierarchy for selecting Western Region to host the Manifesto launch.

He believed the Manifesto had great potential for the Region and the nation.

Mr. Ganiyu, who is also the Regional Director of NADMO, said already, the Region had witnessed dramatic growth in infrastructure and education, adding that the launch of the Manifesto here meant additional blessings in terms of socio-economic growth for the region.

The Region, he noted, had the human and natural resources endowment to spur the general growth and development of the country….” describing the choice of the flagbearer as prudent one indeed.”

“Our flagbearer believed in youth development, and I believe more hope will be restored in that area…our coming to the Region is a signal of our readiness to work with stakeholders to win”.

Okatakyie Amankwa Afrifa, the Western Regional Secretary of the Party, said the Manifesto would present some bold programmes, projects and policies that would solve the many economic and social challenges confronting the nation.

He noted that 16 years reign of the party had given Ghana more leverage for growth and development….”We are hoping to break the eight, continue with these bold solutions to bring Ghana from both internal and global crisis.”

He said the flagbearer was willing to serve Ghana and in its entirety.

Mr. Afrifa hinted that the Manifesto might contain projects, including education, health, roads to enhance the general economic lives of the Ghanaian.

Some residents the GNA spoke with on their expectations prayed that the Party presented prudent policies that met the dying needs of the Ghanaian.

They were also happy that it would bring some cash into their pockets, especially for food vendors, hoteliers, taxi drivers and sachet water sellers and many other businesses.

The Western Manifesto launch would be preceded by a health walk starting from Fijai to Effiakuma Police Park on Saturday.
