AlPay, Remit Choice donate items worth GHC100,000 to dam spillage victims

Mepe (V/R), December, 17, GNA – Two Financial Technology Companies, AlPay and Remit Choice, have donated various relief items to victims of the Akosombo Dam spillage at Mepe in the Volta Region.

The items, valued at GHC100,000 include bags of rice, corn and cassava dough, salt, cartons of oil, packs of soft drinks and bottled water.

The donation which formed part of the companies’ corporate social responsibility was aimed at bringing some relief to the affected people.

Mr Abdul Majeed Peregrino Brimah, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of AlPay, who led the team said the donation was to empathize with persons affected by the flooding.

He said, the donation reflected the company’s commitment to showing benevolence to the needy.

Mr Samuel Ablakwa Okudzeto, Member of Parliament (MP), for the area, who received the relief items on behalf of the people, commended the two companies for extending support to the victims, stating that it would go a long way in alleviating the difficulty they faced.

He described the donation as timely, and assured that at every affected person benefits from the donation.

“These items are timely, especially the bags of salt as we needed them badly,” he said.

Mr Okudzeto expressed appreciation to AlPay for the gesture and called for more support.

Alpay is a cross-border payment platform that enables international remittance companies to terminate transactions in Ghana through its varying payout channels, while Remit Choice helps people transfer money across the globe securely.
