Accra, Nov.20, GNA – The Ministry of Youth and Sports ( MoYS) has charged the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to begin investigations into the attack on Maxwell Konadu, Head Coach of Nsoatreman and some players of the club.
Fans of the Nsoatreman FC during their regional derby against Bofoakwa Tano attacked the Head Coach and players of the club.
A statement from the Ministry said, “The Ministry of Youth and Sports strongly condemns the reprehensible violence that occurred during a league match between Bofoakwa Tano and Nsoatreman F. C on Sunday 19th November, 2023 at the Sunyani Coronation Park.”
“The Ministry urges the Ghana Football Association (GA) to collaborate with relevant stakeholders, including law enforcement agencies to ensure a thorough investigation into this incident,” it said.
The statement further urged the GFA to work closely with all necessary stakeholders to enhance security at all match venues.
It wished Coach Maxwell Konadu and all affected persons speedy recovery and urged the Ghana Police Service to swiftly bring the perpetrators to justice.
“The Ministry urges football enthusiasts and stakeholders to uphold the values of fair play, sportsmanship, and respect, ensuring that Ghanaian football remains a source of pride and joy for all,” it said.
