Accra, Oct. 24, GNA – GCB Bank Tuesday presented a dummy cheque for GHC300,000.00 in support of the upcoming Ghana Journalists Association’s (GJA) media awards.
The 27th award ceremony, which coincides with the 70th anniversary of the Bank, the prime sponsor, is to celebrate the work of hardworking journalists in 2022.
It will be on the theme: “Leveraging media freedom to sustain the democratic and security architecture: The litmus test of election 2024”.
Mr Albert Kwabena Dwumfour, President of the GJA, commended the management of GCB for the gesture, saying the Bank had been a long-time partner of the Association.
“As far as the Awards is concerned, we are happy that they are back to support a worthy course, it marks a new era for our partnership and this will further strengthen the relationship between the two institutions,” he said.
He was thankful to other sponsors – National Security, EOCO, ADB, Tobbinco Pharmacy, and Ghana Gas, among others, for their support.
Mrs Jessie Jacintho, Legal Department, GCB, presenting the cheque, said supporting the GJA “in these hard times” meant it was a Bank all should trust.
She said the sponsorship was to show the Bank’s commitment to supporting good governance and media freedom.
