Vienna, Dec 25, (dpa/GNA) – According to initial findings, about 10 winter sports enthusiasts were buried in an avalanche in Austria on Sunday afternoon.
The police said one person had been rescued injured in the meantime. The remaining victims were still being searched for by avalanche dogs and helicopters.
The avalanche had started around 3 pm (1400 GMT) in the area of the 2,700-metre peak, the Trittkopf, in the skiing area of Lech and Zürs in the state of Vorarlberg.
According to the avalanche warning service, there was a considerable avalanche danger in the area on Sunday.
