Asankragua Firemen tops Western Region quiz competition

Fijai (W/R), Dec. 24, GNA – The Asankragua Command of the Ghana National Fire Service has emerged the winners of the maiden drills, quiz and braveheart challenge, organised in the Western Region. 

The team bagged 34 points in the drills and quiz competition to stay ahead of the Shama, Regional Headquarters and Nkroful contenders. 

They also emerged as the best team in the braveheart scenario to test their sense of bravery, skills, adaptability and mental acumen in handling emergencies effectively and efficiently. 

Assistant Chief Officer 1 (ACFO1) Fredrick Ohemeng, the Western Regional Commander, GNFS, was delighted about the exploits of all the teams in the sciences, adding that fighting fire was science.  

“I am happy that they could answer most of the chemistry and physics questions, which gives me hope in the future because these guys are less than two years in the job,” he said.  

The Command Head reminded them to continuously upgrade their skills with emerging information in firefighting to always improve upon service delivery.  

Turning attention to the yuletide, ACFO1 Ohemeng enjoined all celebrants to be careful with fires, especially as the harmanttan was due, to ensure an incident-free season. 

 He called on Ghanaians to avoid prank calls before, during and after the yuletide.
