Dr Orleans-Lindsay honoured by Oguaa Traditional Council for statesmanship

Accra, Dec. 22, GNA – The Oguaa Traditional Council and the Cape Coast Development Association (CCYDA) had honoured Dr James Orleans-Lindsay, the Executive Chairman of JL Holdings Ghana, a real estate development company, for his contribution to the development of the country. 

He was presented with a plaque, a portrait and a citation in recognition of his commitment to providing social infrastructure, promoting culture to boost tourism, and the empowerment of the youth to ease the challenges of unemployment.  

Dr Orleans-Lindsay was particularly honoured for procuring the design and construction of a gold-bust monumental sculpture in remembrance of the late Osabarima Kwodwo Mbra V, Omanhen of the Oguaa Traditional Area.  

Nana Kweku Ennu III, the Chief of Apewosika/Kokoado and the Mawerehen of the Oguaa Traditional Area, led a delegation from the Traditional Council to Accra to honour Dr Orleans-Lindsay. 

The delegation included Nana Kwesi Egyin II, Nyinfahen of the Traditional Area, Nana Egyirba I, Apagyahenmaa, Nana Ketse I, Ketse Kokwadohen, Mr Ruben Maxwell-Bannerman, Registrar of the Council, Nana Awuku, the Presiding Member, Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly, and Mr Cole Arthur, a patron of CCYDA. 

Nana Ennu expressed the Council’s desire to collaborate with Dr Orleans-Lindsay and all well-meaning Ghanaians to spearhead the development of Cape Coast. 

“We are ready to work with you as our proud and industrious son who will not only inspire the younger generation but bring development to improve the livelihoods of all,” he said. 

“Oguaaman is for all of us, so let us collectively put our shoulders on the wheel for its development to bring peace and prosperity to all.” 

Dr Orleans-Lindsay expressed gratitude to the Council and the CCYDA for the honour done him and pledged to do more. 

The business mogul, who was born in Cape Coast and grew up in Koforidua, has a chain of businesses, prominent among them being the JL Properties, responsible for transforming the one-time Achimota dumpsite/quarry into one of the cleanest estates in the country.  

He announced plans to begin the construction of a 20-unit capacity emergency block with state-of-the-art facilities for the Cape Coast Metro to improve access to healthcare. 

On education and human development, he promised to offer scholarships to aid underprivileged individuals and empower the youth. 

Dr Orleans-Lindsey is ranked among Ghana’s most cherished business leaders, employing hundreds across construction, advertising, security, supplies and consultancy. 

He said people entrusted with some wealth owed it a duty to give back to society, hence his engagement in philanthropic ventures in football, women and children empowerment, among others.
