Vote based on your appreciation of aspirants’ messages – Mahama to delegates

By Edward Acquah

Accra, Dec. 17, GNA- Former President John Dramani Mahama has asked Delegates of the National Democratic Congress'(NDC) congress to vote according to their appreciation of the messages of aspirants.

Addressing delegates at the NDC’s National Delegates Congress in Accra, Mr Mahama reiterated that he had no preferred candidate in the elections.

“I am ready to work with all the elected officers,” he said.

More than 9,000 delegates have converged at the Accra Sports Stadium to elect officers to steer the affairs of the Party for the next four years.

The Congress has been officially opened but voting is yet to commence as of 1600 hours Saturday.

Mr Mahama expressed concern over some grievances and disagreements that erupted after the NDC’s National Youth elections last week as well as campaigns in the lead up to the Party’s National Executive Elections.

He said he was aware of the issue, adding that in conjunction with the Party’s Council of Elders, efforts have been made to resolve the grievances.

He said the Party must work in unity to secure victory in the 2024 presidential elections.

“Individual aspirations and interests must be subdued under the interest of the NDC and the country at large.” Mr Mahama said.

Mr Mahama expressed appreciation to members and sympathisers of the NDC who donated funds and resources towards the Organisation of the National Executive Congress.

He said the Party received donations of up to GHS1,083,000 through Mobile Money and Congress accounts in a period of 12 days when the Party requested for support.

“There is fundamental responsibility on all of us to support the work of the Party. We cannot leave Party financing on the shoulders of just a few people.” Mr Mahama said.
