Accra, Dec. 12, GNA – The Ghana Geological Survey Authority has given a sequence and respective magnitudes of the three earth tremor events recorded in some parts of the Greater Accra Region on Monday December 12, 2022.
According to the Authority, the foreshock occurred at 11:49am with a magnitude of 2.1, with the main event occurring
at 11:53am with a magnitude of 3.5, while the aftershock occurred at 11:58am with a
magnitude of 1.8 on the Richter scale.
A statement signed by Mr. Isaac Mwinbelle, the acting Director-General, copied to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), Accra, said the epicenter was located between Wiaboman and Bojo beach – which was about 575m into the sea.
“The recorded magnitudes are indicative of the extent of the tremor,” the statement noted.
