New York, Dec 07 (BTA/GNA) – International Monetary Fund Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva has been named for yet another year among the world’s 100 Most powerful women by Forbes.
“Feeling honored to be featured again in this year’s Forbes list of the top 100 Most Powerful Women. I am continuously inspired to be listed among so many wonderful and strong women,” tweeted Georgieva. The magazine says that her influence is unique, because she make policies on behalf f 450 million people.
The Bulgarian born Kristalina Georgieva holds a PhD in Economics and an MA in Political Economy and Sociology from the Karl Marx Higher Institute of Economics (now called University of National and World Economy) in Sofia, where she in 1977-1993 she was an Assistant Professor/Associate Professor. Georgieva started her career at the World Bank Group in 1993 as an environmental economist for Europe and Central Asia to leave the institution as vice president and corporate secretary. since February 2010 she has served as European Commissioner for International Cooperation, Humanitarian Aid & Crisis Response and in 2014 she was appointed as Vice-President for Budget and Human Resources of the European Commission.
European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde is ranked second, and third US Vice President Kamala Harris.
