Gold Fields PGA Championship: 24 golfers earn spot to battle for prize money

Damang (W/N). Dec. 03, GNA – A total of 24 out of 33 professional golfers made the cut to battle for the prize money at stake in the ongoing Gold Fields PGA Championship at the Damang Golf Course in the Western North Region.

Kojo Barni from the Damang Golf Club currently leads the pack of qualified regular professional golfers after returning with a total of 141 points after playing 36 holes in two days.

Lucky Ayisah followed with 142 points while Maxwell Owusu Bonsu from the Royal Golf Club and Captain One Golf Society followed with 143 points.

Defending champions, Vincent Torgah from Center of the World Golf Club and Samartex Golf Club is placed fourth with 143 points with his closest rival Emos Korblah placing fifth with 144 points.

Other golfers who made the cut are E,.K Osei (145points), Francis Torgah (148 points), Kuaku Richard (148 points), Biggie Chibvuri (149 points), Yaw Barry (149 points), 11 P.Q. Amponsah (151 points), and Joseph Klah (152 points).

The rest are Kwabena Poku (153 points), Anthony Gbenyo (154 points). Enock K. Owusu (154 points), Kwame Kronzu ( 155 points), Stephen Klah (155 points), Robert Allotey (155 points), Richard Mawuli (156 points), Phillip Paitey (156 points), Vincent Coffie (156 points), Kwame Ligbidi (156 points), David Doe (156 points), and Atiso Quarshie (158 points).

In the seniors’ category, nine out of the 14 senior pros made the cut.

Robert Degbe was leading after day two with a total points of 149 followed by veteran Victor Brave Mensah with 151 points and PGA’s Tournament Director, Akwasi Prempeh with 160 points.

Dawuda Mahama finished fourth after 36 holes with 160 points with James Larry following closely with 163 points and Charles Chichi with 163 points, a former captain of PGA and now tournament director for Captain One Golf Society, Solomon Harvey returned with a total score of 170 points to finish seventh.

Ahmed Padori with a total score of 171 points placed eighth while Frank Asorgba made the last cut with a total score of 171 points,

The competition being sponsored by Gold Field Limited with support from Engineers and Planners, BCM, Genser Energy, Total Energies, AEL, and Gaso Oil entered day three on Friday.

It is held under the auspices of the Professional Golfers Association of Ghana and the Ghana Golf Association.
