New University outdoored to enhance entrepreneurial development

Ho, Nov. 20, GNA- Adonai University College of Research and Entrepreneurship, a new entrant to the tertiary network, has been established in the Ho Municipality to support entrepreneurial development. 

The University, which was established by Mr Bright Adonai, an entrepreneur leading the real estate industry in the Volta Region, has a course structure that feeds directly into the immediate job market. 

The institution takes off with five “dynamic departments”- Business Studies, Communication, Hospitality and Management, Health, Arts, Building, Engineering and Construction as well as the Department of Intelligence and Theology, all offering ICM accredited courses. 

Some of these include Diploma, Advanced Diploma and Certificate programmes in ICT, management, marketing, a variety of technician courses, accounting, security and intelligence, office management, and information technology. 

There are also two to three-month courses in driving, pottery and other needed competencies. 

Mr Adonai, Rector of the University, said at a matriculation ceremony for a total of 85 pioneering students, that he sought to help address the current unemployment situation by helping explore more entrepreneurial pathways. 

“This University college has looked beyond this unemployment problem in our country to identify an opportunity to groom more entrepreneurs. 

“We seek to empower people with entrepreneurial skills and envision becoming a world-recognized private research and Entrepreneurial University college that provides higher educational solutions by identifying opportunities out of challenges. 

“We intend to achieve this vision by providing relevant business, technical and professional education to students to equip them with skills for empowerment economic transformation and growth,” he noted. 

Mr Adonai said the University was working to provide courses from the Institute of Chartered Accountants Ghana, and the Chartered Institute of Marketers UK, and has a “Womanprenuer Challenge” that would help develop innovative women. 

He said the University had close to 30 teaching and non-teaching staff and had become the latest employment avenue for graduates in the area. 

The Rector said a permanent campus was under development at the Adonai Estate Airport Golf City in Ho and had a scholarship scheme for students from its host communities. 

Divine Bosson, Ho Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), praised the resolve to deepen access to tertiary education, and to promote entrepreneurial advancement. 

“The coming on stream of Adonai University College of Research and Entrepreneurship is another long jump for tertiary education. What is missing in our post-secondary-tertiary education is the type of education that prepares the individual for the job market”. 

He laudede management of the University for the idea and promised his personal and the Assembly’s support for the initiative. 

“It is during crisis and adversaries that real leaders are born. Adonai University College of Research and Entrepreneurship has come at this time to restore hope and give meaning to the true definition of research and entrepreneurship to build our collective prosperous future,” the MCE stated. 

The MCE said Ho recently made real a sister city collaboration with the city of Gainesville Florida, which he said educational institutions would find instrumental when implemented. 

Togbe Kasa III, Chief of Ho Ahoe, who chaired the maiden orientation ceremony, said the initiative would require more support to reach more across the Region.
