Hearts coach Matic expects Barnieh to shine at Qatar World Cup

By Simon Asare

Accra,  Nov. 17, GNA – Accra Hearts of Oak Head Coach Slavko Matic believes Afriyie has what it takes to excel on the world stage.

Afriyie Barnieh was a star performer in Black Stars’ 2-0 win against Switzerland in a pre-World Cup friendly played in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The Hearts of Oak marksman was one of the two local players who made Ghana’s squad for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Speaking after their 3-1 win against Accra Lions in the league,  Matic said the World Cup experience was a good one for the player, and he expects him to do well.

Matic said he was very impressed with Banieh’s performance in Ghana’s friendly against Switzerland and expects big teams to seek his services after the World Cup.

The Serbian Coach added that he wouldn’t be affected by the imminent departure of Barnieh as he looks to make the Hearts team a formidable side.

Matic, since he assumed the mantle as head coach, has not lost a game, having recorded three wins and a draw, propelling Hearts into the sixth position on the league table.
