Sofia, Nov 04 (BTA/GNA) – The third edition of the Digital November festival of digital art has started in Sofia. The focus of the Bulgarian events this year is on young artists and the video game industry, said the French Institute in Sofia.
The opening event was an interactive performance, Screenagers, on Wednesday night at the Toplocentrala art centre. It explored the complex connections between man, new technologies and media, and allowed the audience to participate through a app on their mobile phones.
In the exhibition “Enter the Ghost” from 9 to 11 November at The Steps, French artist Mitch Brezounek invites the public to discover a fictional world through virtual reality and to view Alyosha, the monument to the Soviet Army in Plovdiv, from a new perspective and in 3D. Visitors to the exhibition will be able to “enter” the monument, where a whole new reality saturated with symbols awaits them.
A 48-hour hackathon on creating video games, from 11 to 13 November at the French Institute will be organized for those looking for a challenge. The upcoming conference-lectures dedicated to gaming will bring young people together with professionals from Bulgaria and Europe, who will talk about their experiences and the opportunities that the game development industry provides. A video game conference and lectures will take place on 19 and 20 November.

A career show dedicated to the game development industry at the Polish institute is scheduled for November 26-27.
Until the end of the month, the ongoing exhibition “Escape, a journey to the heart of digital cultures” at the French Institute reveals their richness through a series of videos, games, web documentaries and VR experiences.
