Tamale, Nov. 04, GNA – Mr Yakubu Abdul-Majeed, Chairman of the Northern Regional branch of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) has solicited support to aid the GJA put up its secretariat in the region.
He appealed to the Northern and Savannah Regional Ministers as well as other stakeholders to assist leadership of the Association to realise its pledge to secure a secretariat to coordinate it’s activities.
He was speaking at the second edition of the Northern Region GJA Awards held in Tamale to recognise Journalists, who distinguished themselves through their works in 2021 in the Northern, Savannah and Northeast Regions.
Mr Abdul-Majeed said the Association needed external help to complement efforts of the executives in creating a conducive working environment for all Journalists in the region to excel.
He said, “We have taken steps to mobilise resources and logistics through the support of partners to build the capacity of Journalists to live up to their responsibilities.”
He noted that strategies were in place to improve the welfare of Journalists and called on stakeholders to support the GJA in any way possible to promote a worthy cause.
