Accra, July 29, GNA-About 30 youth in the Ablekuma North Municipality have benefited from a day’s phone repairs skills training programme organised by the National Youth Authority (NYA) of the Assembly.
The programme, which was undertaken by Nortin Technology Systems, was to enable the youth to set up their own businesses with start-up capital.
Participants were taken through decoding, unlocking, restarting, flashing among others.
The programme was the third to be organised by the Assembly for selected youth in the area with others being trained in satellite installation and fascinators.
Madam Jemilatu Yamba, the Municipal Director of the National Youth Authority in an address urged the youth to avail themselves to the programme.
She expressed gratitude to the Assembly for its regular support in training programmes for the youth in the municipality.
Madam Yamba said the long-term objective of the training was to empower the youth to gain relevant skills to do their own businesses with little or no reliance on central government, adding that the programme would reduce unemployment.
Mr Kofi Ofori, the Ablekuma North Municipal Chief Executive called on local authorities to support the youth in their various fields of endeavour to empower them economically.
He advised the participants to be diligent and focused on the training because there was value in skills acquisition.
Mr Ofori admonished the youth to shun all forms of social vices and peer pressure that would throw their future fortunes out of gear, adding that it was the vision of the Assembly to streamline opportunities for all to be economically self-reliant.
