GAF President predicts 20 medals Ghana at Africa Armwrestling Championship

Accra, July 18, GNA – Mr. Charles Osei Asibey President of Ghana Armwrestling Federation (GAF), has projected a medal haul of 20 by the National Armwrestling Team, Golden Arms at the 2022 edition of the Africa Armwrestling Championship.

He said he was confident in the technical team and the caliber of athletes selected for the competition.

“We’ve come a long way as a federation, and I believe in our technical abilities. That is why I am confident to say that Ghana would win about 20 medals at the end of the championship,” he stated.

Mr. Osei Asibey, is also contesting for the topmost position at the Armwrestling Federation of Africa as President.

He heads into the election with his counterpart from the Nigerian Armwrestling Federation, Samuel Jackson.

The Championship would be held from July 19 to July 24 at the Molade Okoya Thomas Indoor Sports Hall, situated at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos, Nigeria.

The Golden Arms would be represented by 20 athletes made up of 10 males and 10 females carefully selected from various regional and national championships held earlier this year.

Team Ghana’s participation is sponsored by the Ministry of Youth & Sports, National Sports Authority, K-Balm from Kofikrom Pharmacy, Kaysports Limited and United Media Consult.
