Accra, July 12, GNA – The Ga Mantse, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, will set up a Soccer Centre of Excellence in Accra, to unearth football talents across the country.
The modern, state-of-the-art centre of excellence was successfully launched last Friday at a colourful ceremony in Accra last Friday, the Ga Mantse Cup football ceremony, which would see Hearts of Oak take on Great Olympics on August 7, 2022.
The multi-million dollar facility would include multiple astro-turfs with a spectator stand and floodlights, a library, a state-of-the-art Acqua Centre, an ultra-modern sick bay, leisure areas, a dining room, meeting and conference halls.
Speaking at the launch, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II said he had always loved the game of football and would set up this facility to unearth the vast footballing talents in the country.
The Ga Mantse was poised to complete this project, which he believed would produce some talents that would raise the flag of Ghana high in the near future.
Mr. Kurt Edwin Simeon Okraku, President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), who graced the launch, lauded the Ga Mantse for his initiative in the establishment of the Soccer Centre of Excellence.
He noted that it was vital to set up these facilities to aid in the development of the sport, especially at a time where Ghana’s football continues to gain world recognition with its qualification for the 2022 World Cup.
Mr. Okraku rallied support for the establishment of this facility, saying that it would be benefical to the youth of the country.
