Accra, July 2, GNA- Mrs Elizabeth Kaakie Mann, the Municipal Chief Executive for the Ga East Municipal Assembly (GEMA), has handed over some medical items to the Municipal Health Directorate for the commencement of operations of the Boi Clinic.
The items included paramedic plus oximeters, manual 3-beds, refrigerators, deluxe stethoscopes, Omron X4 apparatus and nebulizers, digital thermometers and weighing scales, and stethoscopes.
The MCE said the donation followed a request by the Directorate for medical equipment and items needed for the commencement of the Out-Patient Department (OPD) services of the clinic.
Mrs Mann charged the Health Directorate to see to it that the facility commenced operations within the shortest possible time.
“I anticipate that the Directorate would make excellent use of the supplies by ensuring that the facility began the provision of healthcare quickly.”
Dr Selorm Kutsoati, the Municipal Director of Health GEMA, promised that her team would move quickly to open the Boi Clinic, saying once the necessary items were in place, they would commence providing minor healthcare services.
Mrs Kutsoati added that once the facility was certified by the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) for use with the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), they would provide full-scale healthcare services in accordance with their mandate.
She thanked the MCE and the Assembly for supplying the items and for their commitment to the operationalization of the Boi Clinic.
Mr Nii Narku Nortey, who serves as the Regent and Family Head of Boi, praised the Assembly and expressed happiness over the clinic’s progress.
He appealed to the MCE to get an ambulance to serve the facility and neighbouring communities.
The Boi Clinic is a Social Investment Fund (SIF) project that was completed in late 2019 but had not been used because it lacked the necessary tools and authorization to start up its activities.
Mrs Kaakie Mann took action to operationalize the facility after taking office in October last year and started the processes needed to do so.
The Municipal Coordinating Director (MCD), Mr Emmanuel Kungi Kwame, the Presiding Member (PM), Mr Jesse Nii Noi Anum, the In-charge of the Abokobi Health Centre, Dr Nafisah, as well as other Heads of Department, representatives from the Health Directorate, and some nurses were present at the handing over ceremony.
