Speaking at Asokore in the New Juaben North Municipality at the launching of the second edition of the Green Ghana day, he urged the public to plant and nurture the trees to achieve the objective.
The Assembly is coordinating efforts to plant over 100,000 assorted tree species at strategic points as part of the Green Ghana Campaign aimed at planting over 20 million assorted tree species to restore the degraded environment.
Madam Comfort Asante, the Municipal Chief Executive of the area, said that degradation of the environment was largely through human activities and, therefore, very necessary for all to participate to complement the national efforts.
She said the seedlings were free and urged all persons to just walk to the Forestry offices to pick some of the seedlings for planting in private areas.
