Accra, June 12, GNA — The Reverend Dr Kwadwo Boateng Bempah of the Holy Hill Assemblies of God Church has advised Christians to be people-centred and compassionate towards others.
He said compassion for others would trigger God’s infinite grace upon them for greater open doors.
“We are what we are today not because of our abilities or how good we are. We are not better than anyone; we are still alive because of God’s compassion. We must also be compassionate towards others.”
“Many have become small because they are not compassionate and don’t think about others. We are saved because Jesus had compassion on us,” he said.
Rev Bempah gave the advice whilst delivering a sermon on the topic: “Fuel of a soulwinner”.
He quoted from Matthew 9:36-38 saying, “When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, ‘The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”
He said it was God’s desire that everyone would be saved and come to know Him.
The Clergyman, therefore, urged Christians to make soul winning an important part of their daily routine.
He noted that soul winning thrived on the fuel of compassion, and that God was more interested in people with compassion than those with faith.
“To be a soulwinner you need to be compassionate. We must have compassion towards others to see them saved because anyone without Christ is hopeless and is in bondage,” he added.
The Clergyman quoted from Mark 5:19 which read; “Jesus did not let him, but said, ‘Go home to your own people and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you.”
