Koforidua, June 6, GNA-The New Juaben traditional council on Monday outdoored a 51-year-old business man, Kwadwo Yeboah Gyamfi, as the new paramount chief of the area.
He succeeds Daasebre Oti Boateng, who reigned for 29 years until his demise in August last year.
Kwadwo Yeboah Gyamfi, a product of St Peters secondary school at Kwahu-Nkwatia is the son of Nana Akua Saa and grandson of Nana Juaben Serwa, a past queen of New Juaben and a royal of the Yiadom Hwediem clan.
In line with the Akan tradition, a new chief must be enstooled to organize the final funeral rites of the past paramount chief, after the burial rites known as ‘doteyie’.
Nana Otuo Siriboe, paramount chief of Asante-Juaben who presided over the meeting was happy that selection of a successor to his older brother had been peaceful.
“Your overwhelming acceptance of my nephew indicates a new era of unity and development for New Juaben”.
He said the new chief was young, energetic and born and breed in Koforidua, and therefore represented what the people of New Juaben want.
He would be confined for 40 days as custom and tradition demands and thereafter would be customarily given a stool name as well as swear the oaths of allegiance.
