College of Education outdoors executives of “Ladies in STEM”

Hohoe (V/R), May 30, GNA – St Francis College of Education, Hohoe, has outdoored a seven-member “Ladies in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM)” executives to help whip up interest of young ones in pursuing STEM programmes.

They were Arthur Gertrude – President, Cobbold Deborah – Vice President, Misu Daniella Esinam – Secretary, Domey Evelyn Etornam – Financial Secretary, Kumabia Phyllis – Organizer, Tengeh Abigail Atonement – Deputy Organizer and Todzo Deborah – PRO.

Dr Adwoa Kwegyiriba, the Principal of the College said the outdoor of the ‘group’ was to put the College’s STEM session ladies together in order to reach out to basic schools and second cycle institutions to enable more students enroll in the STEM education at the College.

She said it would be in line with government’s plans, which began by building science senior high schools and products of the College would become teachers to teach at the schools.

Dr Kwegyiriba said the core mandate of the group was to put together programme of activities to sensitise students in senior high schools to pursue STEM education when entering tertiary institutions.

She said their mandate would also design programmes that would sensitise students in the basic schools and guide them when they are about to enter second cycle institutions to select their courses of study.

Dr Kwegyiriba said the STEM was everything adding that it was applicable in daily activities and it was what every lady went through but when it comes to documenting it, it was seen as a difficult task.

She said the ladies had excelled well in STEM education at the College and therefore wanted to reach out to other young ones and provide them with the needed guidance and support.

Ms Gertrude Arthur Gertrude, President of the group is optimistic of moving STEM to the next level to broaden the scope for women inclusion.
