Russian artillery fire hits Black Sea shipyard, Moscow says

Moscow, May 30, (dpa/GNA) – The Russian military, said it shelled a shipyard in the major Black Sea city of Mykolaiv in south-eastern Ukraine.

The artillery strike hit a warehouse at the Ocean Shipyard, destroying more than 15 Ukrainian battle tanks and infantry fighting vehicles, as well as five artillery systems, Russian Defence Ministry spokesperson Igor Konashenkov said Monday.

Air, missile and artillery strikes have also destroyed dozens of command points, telecommunication sites and troop concentrations over the past 24 hours in the eastern Donbass region, he said.

Konashenkov spoke of more than 320 Ukrainian servicemen killed and 47 military vehicles put out of action. These figures could not be verified. Neither side gives regular updates on their own casualties.
