Accra, May 25, GNA – Standard Chartered Ghana has supported the Dzorwulu Special School, with food items and activity books to enhance teaching and learning and upkeep of students.
The support forms part of Standard Chartered’s Community engagement programme, dubbed, “Future Makers,” created to support young people, especially people with special needs and women.
The items included rice, maize, millet, gari, boxes of chicken and fish, soft drinks, gallons of oil, milo and activity books.
Mrs Asieduaa Addae, Head of Corporate Affairs, Brand and Marketing, Standard Chartered Ghana, said the gesture was part of the company’s objectives to always give back to society to spend some time with the students
“As an organisation, we support the youth and women in three different areas including employability, education and entrepreneurship,” she noted.
Mrs Addea said they chose the Dzorwulu Special School because they intended to spend some time with the students, support them and in the long run develop a special relationship with the school.
According to her, their visit to the school would be on a monthly basis where different groups of employees would engage and interact with the children and make them happy.
Mr Fredrick Tetteh, Headmaster of the School, expressed appreciation to Standard Chartered for recognizing and honouring them with the items to keep the school running.
“We are happy you have recognized us as an institution and honoured us with these items. We also hope this will be the beginning of a wonderful relationship between us,” he said.
Mr Tetteh noted that the items would go a long way to help the management of the school to cater to the student in terms of feeding.
He appealed to churches, non-governmental organisations and philanthropists to come to the aid of the school, stressing that, “the Government has a lot of responsibilities and cannot do it all alone.”
