We are prepared to record zero threats to security—Hohoe MCE

Hohoe (V/R), May 26, GNA – Mr Daniel Noble Awume, Hohoe Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) has given the assurance that the municipality is prepared to prevent any threats of terrorism to lives and property.

He said there were series of engagements, which were expected to continue with the aim of ensuring that the citizens became security conscious.

Mr Awume, speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), after an “extended MUSEC” engagement, said other stakeholders such as the driver unions, health and education directorates were brought on board because they were prominent when it came to security threats.

He said the meeting was also in line with the government’s message on imminent threats of terrorism in the country and the stakeholders would be able to sensitise their members on security tips that could help in foiling terrorist attacks.

He urged driver unions and other stakeholders in the municipality to continue engaging their members on security matters.

Mr Oliver Nyasem, Hohoe Municipal Security Liaison Officer, advised citizens not to board vehicles apart from the ones parked at lorry stations and approved points of loading where they could be traced.

He also urged citizens not to visit friends, not engage in arguments and limit their discussions bothering on politics and governance.

The meeting was attended by the heads of decentralised institutions, security agencies, drivers and market unions.

Chief Superintendent Jonathan Lamptey, Hohoe Divisional Police Commander, urged whistle blowers to give information to ‘reliable’ officers which may not result in disclosing their identities or prone to attacks.

The National Security Ministry launched a citizen awareness campaign dubbed ‘See Something, Say Something’ campaign to encourage people to report suspicious acts of terrorism.

It is also to get citizens highly alert and report suspicious characters in the wake of terrorism threats suspected by security analysts.

The campaign further forms part of the operational strategy in collaborating efforts between security agencies and the citizens to safeguard the borders of the country.
