Islamabad, March 23, (dpa/GNA) – Pakistan reported zero coronavirus-related deaths on Wednesday, for the first time in two years, amid signs that the fifth wave of the pandemic is slowing down.
Life has returned to pre-pandemic normal, after authorities lifted all restrictions last week.
There has also been a significant decline in new hospital admissions, as the national positivity rate of those tested for the virus was reported at 1.3%.
At least 433 new Covid-19 cases were reported over the last 24 hours, the Health Ministry said.
Pakistan reported its first coronavirus case on February 26, 2020. The country has so far recorded 1,522,862 cases and 30,333 Covid-related deaths in total.
Pakistan, with a population of 220 million, has administered more than 219 million vaccine doses, with more than 101 million fully vaccinated since the immunization drive began in February 2021.
