GPL: Boadu not giving up on title despite Kotoko’s 12-point gap

Accra, Feb. 21, GNA – Samuel Boadu, Head Coach of Accra of Hearts of Oak says the season is still young and will not give up the chase of retaining the league title.

The first ‘Super Clash’ of the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League ended in a stalemate with Asante Kotoko still maintaining top spot on the league table while Hearts are eighth, 12 points behind their rivals.

Speaking in a post-match interview after the match, Coach Boadu indicated that there was still a long way to go in the season and they would have to be consistent in their performance in the second round.

Coach Boadu asserted that the injury situation had affected the consistency of the team but looks to build the confidence of the team especially his strikers so that they can give the title a proper chase heading into the second round.

“The gap between us and Kotoko is only 12 points but the competition is still young,” Boadu said at a post match press conference after holding Kotoko to a draw in an outstanding league match.

When asked about the performance of his team against Kotoko, Boadu was content with side outing on the field but rued their many missed opportunities especially in the first half.

Coach Boadu, however, was content with the score line as he indicated that Kotoko can never beat him even if he handles the junior side of Hearts, Auroras.
