Blue Band gives relief items to Appiatse explosion victims

Takoradi, Feb. 12, GNA – The Blue Band company together with Upfield Foods have supplied food items to the families and individuals affected by the Appiatse explosion near Bogoso in the Prestea Huni-Valley Municipality of the Western Region.

Many families were affected by the explosion that occurred on Thursday, January 20, 2022, and claimed 14 lives and properties.

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Ellembelle Constituency, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah on behalf of Blue Band and Upfield Foods, donated fifty (50) boxes of Blue Band margarine and six thousand (6,000) pieces of butter bread to the victims at Dumase where the victims are currently residing.

Additionally, an undisclosed amount of money was presented to the Prestea Huni-Valley Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the area on behalf of the victims.

Making the presentation, Mr Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah commended management of Blue Band for thinking about the victims and prayed to God to help the company.

“I am presenting these items to you on behalf of the Blue Band and Upfield Foods, they planned to come here today but also thought it wise that I do it on their behalf.”

The Marketing Manager for Ghana and French West Africa, Mr Mawusi Mawuenyefia indicated, “when we heard of the unfortunate incident that had befallen the people of Appiatse, we thought it wise to show our support to the residents by providing them with some of our nutritious Blue Band margarine accompanied with some loaves bread to keep them fed and nourished over the next few days even in these times”.

The Managing Director, Bamidele Amao on behalf of the company commended the efforts of all stakeholders who were contributing to provide relief materials for the affected people of Appiatse.

“We mourn those who perished and pray that those injured will have a speedy recovery”, he concluded.

Receiving the items, the Chairman for Appiatse Disaster Relief Committee and the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Prestea Huni-Valley Municipality, Dr Isaac Dasmani expressed his profound appreciation for the kind gesture.

He promised that the items would be given to the right beneficiaries.

The MCE seized the opportunity to appeal to others to support the Appiatse explosion victims.
