Atimatim-Maase (Ash), Feb. 10, GNA – The chiefs and people of Atimatim-Maase in the Afigya-Kwabre South District have appealed to the government to provide them with basic social amenities to help improve on their living conditions.
Nana Danso Abeam II, chief of Atimatim-Maase, who made the appeal said the community was burdened with bad roads, poor security, lack of potable water as well as lack of job opportunities for the youth.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency at Atimatim-Maase, he said the people were becoming agitated over the lack of basic social amenities, which were needed to improve on their living conditions.
He said the absence of a Police station had contributed to increased criminal activities such as armed robbery, drug peddling and others in the community.
Nana Abeam called on the government to reshape the road network to help open up the area and ease the burden of residents.
Opanin Kwaku Forkuo, Acting Linguist of the community said lack of employable skills training and opportunities had made most of the youth jobless.
“Some of the youth feel frustrated and this has led to disrespect in the community.
This is so because they cannot afford three-square meal and the least thing provokes them”, he told the GNA.
He said a borehole, which was constructed for the community many years ago was in a very deplorable condition, making it difficult for the people to access good drinking water.
Opaning Forkuo said the chiefs and elders were ready to support investors to establish businesses and vocational training schools to provide opportunities for the youth in the community.
