Accra, Feb. 7, GNA- Dr Ishmael Ackah, an Energy Economist, has been appointed as the Acting Executive Secretary of the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC).
He succeeds Mrs Mami Dufie Ofori, who served as Executive Secretary for five years.
A statement issued in Accra announcing his appointment by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo said Dr Ackah is expected to start work on Monday, February 07, 2022.
He has an experience that spans the public service, private sector, civil society, and academia.
He was the Regulatory and Electricity Market Expert at USAID West Africa Energy Programme, Deloitte Ghana.
Dr Ackah led the team that developed the energy and petroleum sections of the 2017 and 2021 Coordinated Programme for Economic and Social Development Policies.
Meanwhile, the Chairman, Commissioners, Management, and Staff of the PURC have reaffirmed the Commission’s mandate to continue to serve the interests of consumers and all utility service providers.
