Prampram (Near Tema), Feb. 2, GNA – Four institutions are collaborating to ensure that the operation clean your frontage initiative moves from a slogan into reality.
They are the Ningo-Prampram District Environmental Health Directorate, the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), Community Development and Works Department, and Personnel from the National Service Secretariat.
The four institutions working through the Ningo-Prampram District Assembly spearheaded by Mr Al-Latif Amanor, the District Chief Executive have already embarked on continuous public education and sensitisation to ensure that the residents appreciate the need to keep a clean environment.
Madam Evelyn Nani, Ningo-Prampram Director Environment Health Officer stated during the district launch of Operation Clean Your Frontage at Prampram that a joint team would move from house to house, corporate entities, schools, religious establishments, lorry stations among others with the education.
Madam Nani said after the sensitisation, those who would continue to disobey the sanitation bye-laws would be arrested and arranged before the Courts for prosecution.
Mr Amanor during the launch explained that as part of the initiative the Assembly engaged all interested parties within the district to educate them on the bye-laws.
He said copies of the sanitation bye-laws were shared with the stakeholders including opinion and religious leaders.
The Ningo-Prampram District Chief Executive reminded residents that unclean water bodies serve as breeding grounds for insects and bacteria that causes diseases such as malaria, elephantiasis, typhoid, and others.
Mr Amanor reminded the residents that all must be responsible for the cleaning and greening of their immediate environment; “cleanness is next to Godless”.
Mr Amanor appealed to the traditional leaders, security agencies, and all other stakeholders in the district to get involved in the initiative to have a clean and safe environment to secure the future of the environment.
