Tema Police Command commiserates with murdered police woman’s family

Tema, Jan. 26, GNA – The Welfare Team of the Tema Region of the Ghana Police Service has visited the family of murdered Constable Regina Angenu who was shot dead by unknown assailants at Bawku on Sunday, January 23, 2022.

Chief Inspector Stella Dede Dzakpasu, Public Relations Officer (PRO) for the Tema Regional Police Command told the Ghana News Agency that the visit was to commiserate with the family and officially announce the death of the officer to the family on behalf of the Police Command.

The team was made up of Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Alhaji Baba Saanid Adamu, the Deputy Regional Police Commander; Superintendent John Afuugu, the Regional Welfare Director; and ACP Dr. Phyllis Osei, the Director, Counselling Unit, Police Hospital.

The Deputy Commander, extended the condolences and well wishes on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, Director-General/ Welfare and the entire Police Administration to the family.

The team also assured the family of the Police Administration’s support for the organisation for a befitting burial to be accorded their beloved daughter.

The family was taken through series of counselling procedures by the Director of the Counselling Unit at the Police Hospital to enable them manage the shock of having their relative shot.

The PRO added that counselling for the 10-year-old daughter of the fallen officer was scheduled for later as she was not immediately available at the time of the visit.

Family members led by Mr. Alla Adjetey, Mr. Daniel Oko Ashitey, Mr. Moses Tetteh and Mr. Benjamin Ashitey, thanked the Police for the gesture accorded them and gave the assurance that they would update the Police Administration on plans towards the funeral after having a family meeting as customs demands.
