Tamale, Jan. 25, GNA – The Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH) has assured the public that efforts are being made to fix its CT Scan to restore services at the facility.
It said orders had been placed for the faulty part of the CT Scan, which would be supplied by the week to fix the machine.
This was contained in a statement issued by the TTH signed by Mr Misbao Mohammed, its Acting Public Relations Officer, and copied to the Ghana News Agency in Tamale on Tuesday.
The CT Scan of TTH, which is the main referral facility for tertiary health care in the northern part of the country and beyond, has broken down for some time now.
Patients, who require such services, are sent to private facilities, imposing additional costs on them.
The statement gave details about efforts being made to fix the machine, saying, “The hospital entered after-sales service and maintenance agreement with Africano Healthcare for Planned Preventive Maintenance of the equipment.”
It said, “It is important to note that prior to the breakdown of the CT Scan machine, the servicing company had come to undertake the scheduled periodic maintenance of the machine.”
It said, “A part of the machine subsequently was noticed to be faulty and need to be changed. The Company(Africano Healthcare) has placed an order for the part, which is estimated to reach the country (Ghana) in two weeks.”
It said, “We have gone past a week since the order was made. We are expecting the component to arrive in a week after which the machine will be fixed for the service to be restored.”
The statement said, “We share in the plight of our clients, who have to travel a distance to access the service elsewhere.”
It said, “We wish to assure our cherished clients and the public of our collective resolve to ensure the continuous availability and sustainability of all services at all times.”
