Captain One Golf Invitational Championship officially tees-off in Kumasi

Kumasi, Jan 22, GNA – Over 100 professional and amateur golfers have converged at the Royal Golf Club in Kumasi to participate in the fifth edition of the Captain One Golf Society Charity Invitational Championship on Saturday.

This year’s tournament was under the invitation of His Royal Highness, Otumfour Osei Tutu II, after he was briefed on the activities of the society.

Mr. Mike Aggrey, President of the Ghana Golf Association (GGA), did the ceremonial tee-off to officially begin the competition.

The President and founder of the Captain One Golf Society, Pius Ayeh Appiah, said, aside from Saturday’s event, they were committed to the development of golf in the country and involving everyone to demystify the idea that golf was a preserve for some particular people in society.

“Our tag line, Golf For All, remains very strong as we have over the years sent the game to children especially at orphanages to ensure they get introduced to the game,” he said.

“We are committed to raising the best golfers in the country that could compete on the global stage with the likes of Tiger Woods and other global golf icons,” he stressed.

“Our kids project allows children to play the game of golf and we are currently having some who are interested and actually picking the skills,” he added.

He expressed appreciation to partners and sponsors for coming on board to ensure that they staged the maiden golf event of the year.

He thanked Igimel, Flo Polo Designs, Servaco PPS, Mosak photography, Mican Company Limited, Industrial Procurement Services (IPS), Royal Golf Club, RK Cliste and the media for their support.
