MP for Bibiani holds new year dinner for constituents

Bibiani (WN/R) Jan 3, GNA – Mr Alfred Obeng-Boateng, Member of Parliament (MP) for Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai in the Western North Region, has organised an end of year dinner for his constituents.

The event brought together supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), friends and loved ones at Biggies Restaurant in Bibiani amidst pomp and pageantry.

The euphoria that greeted the function also attracted members of “Friends of Approachers,” a volunteer group for the MP and the NPP in the Bibiani enclave.

Also in attendance were Mr Solomon Osei, Chairman, Friends of Approachers, Mr Joseph Halifax Amandeh, NPP Constituency Secretary, Mr William Asuming, Member and Council of Elders, among other executives.

The various leaders took turns to address the gathering, calling for
unity and development.

The highly elated crowd were treated to food and drinks amidst music and other entertainment activities.

Addressing the charged and enthusiastic atmosphere, Mr Obeng-Boateng said such occasions were meant to strengthen the grassroots of the party.

He thanked the people for the confidence reposed in him as exhibited in the overwhelming endorsement in the 2020 general election.

To him, Christmas was all about love and affection saying, “there is no other way of showing love than to bring our supporters together and give them something and to talk to them on how important they are and how much we cherish them.”

He said in his first year as a member of Parliament, Gold Stars, the only first division team in Bibiani and Western North Region, qualified to play in Ghana’s Premier League.

This feat, he said, had impacted positively on the economic activities of the area.

Again, he noted, Bibiani Gold Mines which had been dormant for some time also bounced back in full operation.

The MP was optimistic that most of the youth would be considered for employment in the mines.

Mr Alfred Obeng-Boateng was highly optimistic that Bibiani would return to its glory days where people from different parts of the country wished to settle down for business in the vicinity.

Concerning women and business, he urged business women to exercise restraint as he organized himself to secure soft loans to support their businesses.

On accommodation for traders who travelled to Accra for business purposes, Mr Obeng-Boateng hinted that he had started the construction of a facility at Dodowa, Accra.

This facility, he said, was at an advanced stage and it would be ready for use within the shortest possible time.

Mr Obeng-Boateng urged the youth not to engage in social vices but
invest in their future by eschewing drug abuse.

“If I had not taken good care of myself, I could not write Approachers Series and also be a member of Parliament.”

“Undoubtedly, Approachers Series contributed immensely to the 65 per cent pass in the 2021 WASSCE Integrated Science in Ghana,” he said.

He encouraged the party faithful to be united and work hard for victory in 2024 while considering COVID-19 protocols.

“The longer the party stays in power, the more people benefit. Help us to stay in power for long to develop the country,” he added.

The MP during the Christmas festivities distributed hampers to the poor and needy in the constituency.
