Hohoe (V/R), Dec. 24, GNA – Chief Superintendent Jonathan Lamptey, Hohoe Divisional Police Commander, has given assurance that the Command is prepared to ensure a safe festive season within the Hohoe Municipality.
He said the Motor Transport and Traffic Department (MTTD) would intensify their day and night patrols with increased strength and clamp down on unregistered motorbikes and errant riders.
Chief Superintendent Lamptey, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), disclosed that the command had already seized some unregistered motorbikes, and would continue throughout the festive period.
He said the patrol teams would be sent to communities and residential areas in the municipality with the support of the assembly to ensure sanity.
Chief Superintendent Lamptey said the Command would set up and operate a 24-hour communication centre for people to seek assistance and respond to any incidents that may occur during the period.
He said they were ready to deal with traffic situations since a lot of people might be in town for church services and other activities while advising against roadblocks for activities without approval from appropriate authorities.
Chief Superintendent Lamptey advised the public to ensure that whatever they did during the season were done according to the remit of the law.
“Avoid arguments and fights and possibly report to the police for the necessary actions to be taken,” the officer advised.
He said the laws would, however, “deal nicely” with people who would not conform to the laws.
