Kumasi, Dec. 15, GNA – Real Tamale United (RTU) held Kumasi Asante Kotoko to a pulsating 1-1 draw in their matchday eight encounter at the Baba Yara Stadium.
Kotoko’s Cameroonian import, Frank Etouba Mbella fetched the first goal of the match in the 47th minute but their lead was cancelled in the 68th minute by David Abagna of RTU.
The Porcupines who had not won in their last two games ahead of the match started on a brighter note, pinning the visitors to their own half but failed to make their early dominance count.
As the game progressed, RTU warmed themselves into the game and made some dangerous incursions into Kotoko’s vital area.
The two teams created few decent chances throughout the first half but went into recess with nothing to show for their efforts.
Kotoko, however, broke the virginity of the game just two minutes into the second half after a brilliant combination between the two Cameroonians, Mbella and Mfegue.
Mfegue received the ball in the midfield and laid a through pass to his compatriot who beautifully planted the ball beyond RTU’s goalkeeper, Osei Yaw.
The visitors came back into the game strongly as nimble-footed Ronald Frimpong tormented the defence of Kotoko with so much ease.
His efforts would pay off in the 70th minute when Razak Abalora spilled one of his numerous crosses, giving Abagna a perfect opportunity to score the equaliser.
The rest of the became an end to end action as both sides searched for the winning goal which never came until the referee ended the match
