Kusali, (UW/R), Dec. 16, GNA – A 46-year-old tutor, Karim Mohammed Gbena at the Kumbungu Senior High School in the Northern Region, has been enskinned as the divisional chief of Kusali traditional area in the Sissala West District of the Upper West region.
He now goes with the skin name Kuoro Karim Mohammed Gbena I.
The enskinment took place at a short ceremony at Kusali, where Kuoro Buktie Liman, the paramount chief of the Gwollu Traditional Council, performed the ceremony.
Kuoro Buktie Liman, the Paramount Chief of the Gwollu Traditional Council, appealed to communities in the area to follow laid down procedures in the selection of successors anytime a chief passes on to avoid conflict.
He lauded the Kusali community for presenting a successor to replace the former chief of Kusali during the funeral of the late chief Alhassan Gbene Babaaniwi III.
He stressed the importance of keeping to the traditional mode of succession anytime a chief passed on and was grateful to the community for the show of unity in identifying a successor peacefully.
The newly enskinned chief is a product of the Tamale College of Education, who proceeded to the University of Development studies.
He urged the community members to remain united and show respect to the elders and pledge to tackle deforestation and charcoal burning in the area.
He assured the communities he would “consult in every step of his way to maintain the unity enjoyed by all in Kusali.”
