Accra, Dec. 14, GNA – The Hotel, Catering and Tourism Training Institute (HOTCATT), has trained staff of the catering department of the Cocoa Research Institute of Ghana (CRIG), at New Akim Tafo, in the Eastern Region.
The training was to build the capacities of the staff to deliver excellent customer service to clients.
In a release issued to the Ghana News Agency, in Accra, Mrs Petrina Atu Mantey, Director, HOCATT, said excellent customer service delivery must be in tune with both local and international standards, saying the focus of HOTCATT was to deliver theory with excellent practical training in the hospitality and tourism hub to meet globally acceptable standards.
She said that was the surest way to enhance the clientele base of any hospitality facility, which would invariably improve the revenue generation of the institution.
Mrs. Atu Mantey charged the trainees to groom themselves well and be confident in their working environment when providing services to guests.
The Director of HOTCATT, said it was incumbent on practitioners in the hospitality and tourism value chain to fashion out an appropriate feedback mechanism in engaging with both internal and external customers for growth.
She said that was fundamentally essential for clients’ service satisfaction and ultimate growth of every corporate institution.
“Customers want to be treated like Queens and Kings and since they are always right, they must be treated with certain degree of courtesy and respect.”
Deputy Executive Director of Coffee and Shea Directorate, CRIG, Dr. Samuel T. Lowor, urged the trainees to make good use of the engagement to build their brand.
The participants were trained in customer service delivery, housekeeping skills, and food and beverages handing.
HOTCATT is a hospitality training institute established in 1991 by the Government of Ghana with the oversight responsibility under the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture to train people with passion to ply their vocation in the hospitality and tourism industry.
